The otter in the picture is a Northern Sea otter. In the 19th century, they were nearly hunted to extinction but are now protected. Northern and Southern Sea otters are both under the threatened status currently.
These otters were rescued when their den was accidentally discovered and their mom ran off. The Florida wildlife hospital is taking care of them, but they could use donations to care for their otters until their eventual release to the wild.
